Our story

Dorothy, founder of Adagio Ballet Boutique, embarked on her ballet journey at the age of 23 as an adult ballet beginner. As a timid girl since she was young, Dorothy stood at the back in class and was in the last group when doing centre combinations when she first started. Although she is still struggling with learning ballet terms, body coordination, muscle control, remembering choreography, and doing the reverse or the left side, with persistent effort and guidance from great teachers, not only does she feels more in control of her body, but she also began to enjoy dancing in the moment. Even though she missed steps, lost balance, failed at pirouettes, slipped and fell or even got seriously injured from a jump, she still perseveres in the endless learning process with trial and error.

The same goes for the process of searching for dancewear, after experimenting with 50+ dancewear brands, she figured out what works for her and what doesn't, including styles, cutting and colour palette. She is fascinated by how a well-designed and quality piece of ballet leotard can make a difference when dancing, it should hugs your body, allows freedom in movements, feels as comfortable as your second skin and flatters your body type.

She believes that every adult ballet dancer deserves to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. That's why Adagio Ballet Boutique is born - to connect you to premium quality dancewear from around the world.

A diversified and inclusive ballet world.

To connect adult ballet dancers to premium quality dancewear from around the world, so that we can be our authentic selves - beautiful, confident dancers.
